The Real Timberlake Tats
The Real Timberlake Tats by Roxanne McDonald
As if the successful singer’s body doesn’t get enough attention, Justin Timberlake’s tattoos are often discussed (as everything from prison inkings for parts he plays to the fake tats that have silly translations), interpreted, and fawned over.
Don’t let the latest pics on the net [including the one here] fool you, though: Justin has limited the number of tattoos he actually has for life: the rest are impermanent and for a film he was working on entitled Alpha Dog.
Displayed and explained by Vanishing Tattoo, on their “101 World’s Hottest Men with Tattoos list, where Timberlake ranks #2 [after Lenny Kravitz], are Justin’s actual tats:
On his right ankle are two tattoos, one on top of the other: a wreath of flames and an encircling red velvet rope—the flames representing those on *NSYNC’s debut album cover and the rope that which was on the Celebrity album cover.
Alos on the back of his right ankle is a marionette, which also speaks to an album cover…for No Strings Attached.
On his left calf is a band of ornamentation which meets at an Aquarius symbol for Timberlake’s Western astrological birth sign.
On the same leg and lower down, beneath the Aquarius band, is the Chinese symbol for music.
And Vanishing Tattoo writes that Justin has his initials tattooed on his ankles, though I have not found a picture and can only suggest that the self and self-esteem are proudly emblematized in these tats if they do exist.
On his upper back and between the shoulder blades is a stunning, ornamented angel, with the word “Guardian atop it. Here the suggestions range from the heavenly and spiritual beliefs to the reverence for mythological symbols…and given the tag, should also be considered representative of Justin’s faith in being protected. In addition, the angel is holding a small banner with Justin’s mother’s initials, so it could be inferred that Mom is the guardian angel, here.
Also typically religious in nature is the large and moderately ornate cross on his left shoulder cap and arm. But reportedly, he got the tattoo during his Pop Odyssey tour and has indicated it has no special significance.
Significance however deep it goes is for us the beautiful addition to an already gorgeous bod—one belonging to a multi-talented musician.
